Adult Services
Special Services
INFO ED: Both libraries have a special INFO ED public computer station that may be used to access online job applications, college applications, medical resources, or to create a resume. Although library patrons have access to these tools at our other computers, the INFO ED station can be reserved ahead of time and used for an extended time period. Resume books, job opportunity information, and college catalogs are also available at both libraries. Call your nearest library for an INFO ED station reservation. Also see our Internet Use Policy and Computer Access and Conditions of Use Guidelines.
Literacy Council: Literacy Council employees and volunteers tutor adults in reading, writing and study skills, and help them prepare for the General Education Diploma exam. The Meherrin Regional Library System provides tutoring space and assistance for the Emporia-Greensville Literacy Council at the Richardson Memorial Library.
Popular Authors and Book Requests: Meherrin
Regional Library currently has an Author Standing Order Program with Ingram
Library Services, which automatically ships new hardcover fiction titles by
popular writers such as Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, Janet Evanovich, and hundreds
more. We have selected authors that are the most popular and frequently requested
by our patrons. The books are shipped to our Library approximately two weeks
prior to public release, which allows our technical services staff to catalog
and process the books so they are ready for checkout on the day of public
release. With the Author Standing Order Program, you won't miss the newest
releases of the most popular authors of our day. See information about
placing holds on specific titles.
Patron requests
for library purchase of specific books are welcome and are always reviewed and considered.
Services to Senior Citizens: Services include a collection of
large-type and recorded books, a Magna-Sight machine that
magnifies documents to make them easier to read, and one-on-one computer
assistance. Home delivery of books is available to patrons who, for health or
other reasons, are temporarily unable to get to the Library in person.

The Knit & Crochet
group meets weekly at the Brunswick County Library to share their latest
handicraft project, to teach "newbies", and to help someone with a difficult
stitch.
Richardson Memorial Library patrons should contact the library if they are interested in starting a Knit, Crochet, Scrabble or Chess club and would like to meet in the library.
