Gifts and Donations
The Meherrin Regional Library System is grateful for all gifts and donations. Material gifts as well as monetary gifts are given and are always welcome. It is with private donations that our Library System grows and can continue to be an essential public asset and a leader in education for our citizens. Donations are received from individuals, families, businesses, clubs and civic groups as well as corporations and foundations.
The library reserves the right to make decisions regarding the implementation of each donation. Gift books are subject to the same collection development and selection process as new books and are accepted with the understanding that they may be offered to other libraries, sold, or discarded if they do not meet the library’s selection criteria and collection needs. Potential donors may request a judgment on their materials as to disposition prior to donating them. On request, library staff will provide a list of materials donated, but will not value the items. Purchasing decisions, with regards to equipment, furnishings, and other components, are made by library administration.
Meherrin Regional Library System will ensure that each donor receives an acknowledgement. To the degree that the donor is willing, the library will ensure the donor receives public recognition for sizeable donations.
