Meherrin Regional Library System
The Meherrin Regional Library System is located in central southside Virginia and serves Brunswick County, Greensville County and the City of Emporia with two branches, outreach services, and a wide variety of resources and programs.
The Brunswick County Library serves as the main library and is located at 133 West Hicks Street in the town of Lawrenceville (see hours, directions and closing dates for BCL). The William E. Richardson, Jr. Memorial Library is in the City of Emporia, at 100 Spring Street (see hours, directions and closing dates for RML). Administrative offices and the technical services department are located at the Brunswick County Library in Lawrenceville.
Over 13,000 people use the libraries each month. The system has over 120,000 books, periodicals, audio books, videos, music CDs, and other materials available for borrowing. Print collections include adult books, large-print books, young adult books, children's books, and periodicals for all ages and a variety of interests. Audio books are available on cassette tape and CD. Videos are available on cassette tape and DVD.
Services offered at both libraries include reference services, local history and genealogy centers, interlibrary loan, state and federal tax forms, free computer use, free wireless internet access, programs for children and adults, community meeting facilities and exhibit space. Literacy tutoring is available at Richardson Memorial Library. Other special services are offered.
